Finally, I know what to do...

There's definitely a light shining brightly at the end of the tunnel.

For years I am just stumbling with life like a daily chore.
Dragging myself to work, enduring with the every day hustle.
I was lost, as if wandering around in a jungle with heavy fog.

But now, things are starting to get clear.
The fog is starting to lift and the path slowly opens in front of me.
This is not just a one-time "Aha!" moment like a light bulb suddenly lit above my head.
It's more of a clear understanding of how I control my own destiny and how to do it...step by step.

More often than not, we need to be slapped with reality and feel the pain of its bite on our ego before we came to realize what should we do.  Sounds deep?  Not really.

A lot of people will give inspirational advice on how to get better in the different aspects of our lives. That includes career, financial security, love, and family among other things that will make us happy and fulfilled.  But through the years, this made me even frustrated more because all these advice are so generic and vague.  They won't even tell you where to start or how to do it.

Now I came to realize that the only person who can help me is myself.  Every one else can provide some sort of support but ultimately, I am responsible for my own life and no one else can dictate my future but myself.  It sounds selfish, but it's actually not.  The by-product of helping myself is to help others like me to be the best version of themselves.

As intriguing as it may sound now, I can only disclose the basic principles of my self-enlightenment.  I do not believe in spoon-feeding.  We as human beings do not realize the value of anything if it's given free.  Anyway, it only revolves in these few lessons in life that I've learned:

1)  Educate thyself.  I'm not necessarily talking about taking Masters or PhD's.  I'm talking about understanding how the world works. Be literate at the things that matters the most. And this is a continuous process.  It doesn't stop after taking crash courses.  Life is a never ending school.

2)  Stop helping others who doesn't want to help themselves.  Believe me, it's an absolute waste of precious time and energy.  It's personally very draining to hang out with toxic and whiny people.  Instead, help others who have their own drive and motivation for change.  This a good way to keep paying it forward.

3) Still don't know what your passion in life is? Or at least a passion that will still pay the bills?  I mean you can be passionate at something like singing or dancing, but reality check, can you earn enough doing that instead of your current job?  Stop finding your passion through pointless soul searching.  It's very counter productive.  Focus on the now.   Be good.. be really good at what you do now and this becomes your passion.  Then, move on to a new passion when you're ready.

4) Accepting reality but be open to possibilities.  Don't be a pessimist but don't be an optimist either.  Be a realist...ride the waves, go with the flow and not against it.

5)  Do something new to result to something different.  Insanity is doing things over and over and expecting a different result.  Do not whine and blame the world for your misfortunes. Stop expecting free lunch. Go fish yourself.  Prayer and faith are great but is never enough. Do something about it.

6)  Know what you want and find the most effective way to get it.  Nobody will spill trade secrets.  You have to be resourceful. Make calculated risks and take the leap.

In the process I'm noticing that my personality changes as well.  It's a positive change. And I like it.
The future looks bright.  Now there's always something to look forward to every day.

Cohen Diet Update

I went to the clinic yesterday to get my Refeed and Maintenance Plan from my consultant in Cohen.  We discussed how should I go about it.  It turns out that it would be better if I start Refeed when I reached the lowest end of my weight goal range.

Dr. Cohen advised that I should target 107 lbs to 114 lbs.  I'm currently at 113 lbs (Yey!).  I'm excited to start my Refeed plan so that I can start to eat bread and pasta again.  But I changed my mind.  I'd continue instead with my eating plan to reduce my weight down to 107 lbs, then that's when I can start the Refeed.

The clinic took my before and after photos and I intend to post it here but they haven't send it to me yet.  I'll post them as soon as they're available.

'Till next time.  Ciao!

So... What Happened to my Cohen Diet, you say?

It's been about 5 months since I started with Cohen diet.  With lots of travel and holidays that happened last year, what happened to my weight now?

Well, I started in August 2011 at about 141 lbs (I think even more...), a size 14/Large (US), sometimes 16/X-Large (US), with a waist of 32 inches (yikes!).

And now I'm currently at 115 lbs (and still losing some...), a size 6/Small (US), sometimes 4/Small (US).. (oh yeah, that's right.. I'm now a SMALL.. yes!!!), with a waist of 26 inches.

So far, I've lost 26 lbs.  I still haven't got into ReFeed stage yet because I want to reach at least 113 lbs before I start ReFeed.  My weight loss became slow these past few months because I cheated a lot due to lots of travel and of course, the holidays. It's very very hard not to eat during the holidays when I'm the one in charge of the cooking!

I indulged with everything that Cohen forbids me to eat... rice, pasta, bread, creamy fruit salads, ice cream, cakes, chocolate chip cookies... ooohh it's so good I can't help myself.  So I just gave in...hahaha! I'm so weak.

Anyway, immediately after that, I tried to detox for all the bad stuff I had.  Senna Tea, psyllium fiber, lots of water... that's on top of the meals from the Cohen diet.  It proves to be effective, because the last I weighed during my pig-out days is 119lbs (that was just a few days ago).  And now, I'm back again to 115 lbs just after a few short days.

Although it's scary how fast I gained weight just with a few days of deviation.  So I guess this would be a lifetime commitment to change my eating habits.  I was thinking of slowly going vegan, but it's going to be very very challenging for me because I live with people who loves meat and rarely eat veggies.

Last month I had to buy new clothes because all my clothes are way too big already.  I really don't plan on buying new clothes until I reach my lower target weight, but I had to because everything I have in my closet looks baggy already. I bought a few pieces of dresses, tees, jackets, trousers, and jeans.  It's really a good feeling to shop for clothes in size small and fits me just right.  No more shopping in the Plus size section... I am never ever going back there again.

A lot of my friends and also my relatives noticed the big change.  I got tons of compliments... I am so happy.

I'll get my ReFeed plan next week, hopefully I'll be at 113 lbs by then.
After Refeed, I hope this can get me to my lower target weight which is 107 lbs.
I'll be good this time. No more cheats..  :-)

I'll start exercising and weight training at Maintenance Stage.
Although I lost weight, my arms are still a bit flabby and needs some toning.
Well, good luck to me!

20 lbs gone with the Cohen Diet

5 weeks have passed since I started my Cohen diet program.  And as to date, I lost a total of 20 pounds already!  I almost can't believe it, but the scales are telling the truth.

My goal is to be at 105 lbs so that means 15 more pounds and I'm at my goal weight.  I have no doubt that I can achieve that because I've got all the support from my family and friends.

My friends at work are noticing the big change and I am very flattered for the compliments.
Other friends in Facebook are asking for pictures of the new me, but I said I'll do that once I reached my goal weight.  That way, they can really see a huge transformation! Bongga!

I'm so grateful I found the Cohen diet.  :-)
